Sharing information about Socratic Seminars including how to guide students in creating their own questions, moving from teacher-led to student led discussions, videos of students in action, and sharing resources to use in classrooms.
Pete Scully and Laura Mickens will review pre-tax savings vehicles that are available to UA employees in addition to STRS. This review will cover the HSA, Section 125 plan, 403b, 457b, and 401a programs and approved vendors.
This is an introduction to Bridges and how to implement Bridges in the classroom. Teachers will gain an understanding of the program, the format it follows and how it ties in to the success of student's learning. They will dive into the online platform and see how they can implement that in the classroom, as well as how to implement Number Corner daily. Teachers will see how the Standards of Mathematical Practice are incorporated into daily lessons. Finally, teachers will gain an understanding about Dreambox and how imperative it is to use Dreambox daily in the classroom with students.
The presentation will begin with an overview of TWR as a framework for building writing skills while connecting background knowledge in content learning. The presenters will guide participants through several skills and activities included in the resource. The presentation will offer opportunities for linking writing strategies with classroom practices and curricula to support new teachers starting Day One.
